Animated Childrens Films
Heres a quick look at some of the best animated childrens films from the last decade or so.
Sprited Away
An astounding anime childrens film by the genius that is Hayao Miyazaki. This movie has remarkable visuals and an awesome entralling narrative, if you haven’t previously got it definately give it a look
Finding Nemo
Yet another astonishing kids movie, it is a enjoyable undersea environment unfolds in Pixar’s cartoon adventure Finding Nemo. After his child Nemo is seized by a scuba diver, a scared clownfish named Marlin (Albert Brooks) sets off in to the large and surprisingly meticulous sea to look for him. On the way he meets together with a rather ridiculous blue tang fish named Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), who’s equally a help and a hindrance.
Monster’s Inc
This was one of my personal favourites out of all the childrens films released in the past 10 years. Sulley and Mike, the primary monsters, are a superb double-act whose humor never goes over kids’ heads but still can easily make their mom and dad laugh. The film’s central idea that monsters in the bed room closet are merely doing a nights work in order to produce power from screams is interesting and skillful notion; and little ones will naturally really enjoy the simple fact that the monsters are frightened of the children they are hoping to scare.
The animation is immensely detailed, and John Goodman and Billy Crystal ddo a very good job as the monsters.
The Incredibles
This film was nominated for 4 Oscars, and picked up best animated Film andĀ sound editing. The film is about a family of 5 who all have got special powers and are attempting to live a ordinary life, but however tough they try things just cannot remain that way.
Wall-e
Yet another Pixar classic! This childrens films follows a the last robot left on earth. A lovely little trash compactor. A probe called EVE is dispatched to earth and WALL-E falls for her. Immediately after this the human planet is spun upside down and the Captain (Jeff Garlin) joins forces with Wall-E and a team of other misfit robots to lead the now lethargic people back home to this planet.
Well that was just a short look at a handful of animated childrens films, there are considerably more dazzling ones that we know we have missed, but we will get to them all in due tme.
Why not leave a comment and let us know what your most liked childrens films have been.
Films For Children | Favourite Films for Children
What are our favourite films for children or childrens films if you will?
Before we get into the detailed reviews I thought we’d just have a look at some of my favorite films for children. These are in no particular order, they are all in my opinion brilliant films and have all touched me in some way.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
This was one of my favourite films when I was a kid.
Dick Van Dyke plays Caractacus Potts, an unconventional inventor who loves making candy related concoctions and lives with his two children and their grumpy grandpa in a windmill. A day-trip in the title character, a magical flying car, with Truly Scrumptious turns into an adventure to a fairytale Bavarian castle, where they have to try and rescue their imprisoned Grandfather from the Baron Bomburst, whilst trying to avoid the terrifying child catcher.
The Witches
Another one I really enjoyed when I was little, and I was a massive fan of the books.
This film is based on Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book of the same name with Nicolas Roeg directing. It begins with the lineĀ ”This is not a fairy tale. This is about real witches.”
The story is focused around luke who lives with his grandmother and the bond they share, and the way that both their lives change drastically when they come in contact with real life witches. Anjelica Huston’s puts in a good performance as she portrays the Grand High Witch.
This is a dark comedy and I can still remember hiding behind the sofa the first time I watched it, not a film for the very young (or the easily scared).
Toy Story 1,2 and 3
What can I say? Who doesn’t love these films?
These films for children are certainly not just terrific kid’s movies but they are definitely also contenders for greatest films of all time. Adults as well as children of all ages love these films. The adventures of Woody the cowboy (voiced by Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) and the rest of the bunch made such an immediate impression because of Pixar’s state of the art animation and effects, but they will be cherished for many years, thanks to the amazing storytelling, lovable characters, and the raw emotion of John Lasseter’s direction.
The Jungle Book
Another one of the all time classic Childrens films!
This is the Disney adaptation of the Rudyard Kipling classic. Mowgli, a young boy who was raised by wolves is the central character, and the story follows him as he attempts to navigate life in the jungle. Full of memorable songs that children will listen to for hours, and lovable characters such as Baloo and Bageera, this is a film your children will happily watch again and again. If you are among the very small few who haven’t seen it yet go and watch it now you will not regret it!
Well there’s just a few of my favorite films for children, and we will provide in depth reviews of these and many more movies for kids in the days to come so stay tuned!

What makes a great film for children?
Children have a vivid imagination, and a good movie for kids can bring that out. A brilliant film will stay with them for years, and they will love pretending to be the main character in their playtime. Do childrens films have to be colourful? Do they have to have an amazing soundtrack? I think most of all they need to have an amazing central character, and a fantasical story that can let the kid’s imagination run wild. The best films for children also appeal to adults, there will often be little jokes that only a more mature audience might truly appreciate. Another important aspect movies for kids should have would be a message, they need to have a moral, just like the fables of old. We all want our children to be educated and to grow up to be good people.
What do we as adults want from our films for children?
Well its obviously wonderful to see your children’s face light up at the latest Pixar special effect, or laugh at the on screen antics of some colourful fluffy funny animal.
